for Vocal Octet, 2018 - Flexible duration

The title, “With, not To” comes from some advice that I gave to a very close friend of mine about love. How when you love, you love with, not to someone. This title seemed fitting given the nature of this piece. The intimate process of finding the answers to these important personal questions, and then sharing them is, in a way, an act of love. Really digging deep into you who are as a person and finding these experiences and these memories is tough as it is, and then sharing them is even tougher. This piece is an attempt to write a choral piece that uses no text, but still uses text as its main modus operandi.
