This Point, On

Interactive Sound Installation, 2022 - No fixed duration

“This Point, On” exists in three versions.

  1. A visual album. (See right)

  2. A collection of singles.

  3. Interactive sound installation.

All three versions are created with the same Max/MSP patch. It uses the computer’s time of day to generate pitch material and a webcam to trigger ADSR envelopes to create an ambient listening experience. The original installation was installed in the Lamar Dodd School of Art outdoor courtyard at the University of Georgia. The goal of the project was to create a useful sonic installation that was also creative and interactive. As people use the courtyard, the installation evolves and reacts to their presence.

The collection of singles (available on bandcamp) are recordings of the installation set to impossible times. The result is 12 singles and an hour long ambient album that can be shuffled and played in any order.

The visual album is the same recordings, sequenced in a fixed order, with corresponding visuals (also created in Max/MSP).
