One Person’s Trash

for Solo Viola and Speaker, 2020 - 6:30’

Written for Jacob Tews’ COVID-19 concert series, Solitary Soireé.

This short piece was written to get a few of my more disconnected quarantine thoughts altogether in one place. From reading some of Ta-nehisi Coates’ writings, listening to podcasts, and my friend interjecting “I’m reading Common Sense” to our group chat, I’ve been having a lot of thoughts. Not all of them are coherent, however, so this piece acts as a kind of collage for the discombobulated mental threads I’ve been exploring.

This piece is also arranged for Violin and Vibraphone.
